Apparently once a yearly tradition in Nashville, the Music City Hot Air Balloon Festival returned for the first time in over a decade. I can confirm that for a few days leading up to the event, it was absolutely the hottest ticket in town. Everyone was looking for tickets, some people even frantically. It turned out to be a little over-hyped in my opinion, but it still made for a great photo op.
What festival is complete without zorbing? Food trucks for days. My poor roommate waited in line for almost 2 hours, only to be turned away right before he got to the window because they ran out of food 🙁 At last the fun began.
It is beyond cool watching a 20-foot burst of flame shooting up into a giant balloon.
Like, really cool.
Couldn’t get enough of it, really.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many photographers in one place at the same time. It was a zoo. I did my best to find unique angles and not just take the same photos everyone else was.
Couldn’t have asked for a prettier sky and sunset for an event like this. It was a nice touch to have live music on hand I thought. Here’s the view from backstage. After waiting for what seemed like forever, they finally managed to get almost all of the balloons lit at the same time. At this point, I had wandered way to the back and climbed up on a dumpster. Yes, that’s right, I’ll climb up a TRASH receptacle if it means getting THE shot. To top it off, a full moon rose in the background. This was probably my favorite shot of the night. It was a fun night, and I’d consider going back again. I’ll be hoping for more balloons, and hoping to see them actually take flight next time. It was a fun night, and I’d consider going back again.
