Yosemite, Part 1 – Mysterious and Foggy

This California trip has been a real doozy. I’m sure it will go down as one of my favorite trips of all time. The fun activities, time with friends and family, beautiful vistas, and incredible photo opportunities we’ve packed into this trip has been almost unreal.

And we saved the best for last…Yosemite. We had two free days at the end of our trip, so we booked an overnight stay in one of the most beautiful places on the face of the planet. Even though I was already tired and worn out from the rest of the trip, I was still extremely excited and anxious to get back. It’s been over four years since my last visit to Yosemite, so I was itching to get back.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast had finally taken a turn for the worse on us. Despite nearly flawless weather during our two week trip, the forecast for Yosemite was showing clouds, rain, and even some snow…not at all what I was hoping for.

When we arrived in the valley, the gloom and doom forecast seemed accurate. It was dark, cloudy, and some rain was already falling. I was pretty bummed, but tried to stay optimistic. As we were getting out of our car, I looked up, and noticed a spectacular sight – the clouds above had revealed a small opening, and a looming cliff was peeking through. I hurriedly grabbed my camera and fired off a few shots. The fun had begun.Yosemite_Day_1_0004_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0001_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0002_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0003_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0005_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0006_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0007_160321 Yosemite_Day_1_0008_160321

It turns out that fog and clouds make Yosemite look SUPER cool! I admit to being a Debbie Downer about the weather as we were driving in. But once we started exploring a little, I realized that we were in for a real treat.

There’s so much more I can say about this incredible and special place, but I’m about to board my flight home, so I’ll just have to let the photos do the talking. Stay tuned for Part 2 of the Yosemite post. Let’s just say, the weatherman should be looking for a new job 😉
